A 30-year-old man has been charged following a frightening attack on the Museum subway station platform Tuesday afternoon.
The victim, a 57-year-old woman, was stabbed in the head in an apparent random act. She managed to stumble upstairs to alert transit staff, and police were called in to investigate.
Transit employees apparently recognized the suspect as a frequent rider and they used security video from the station to help identify him.
Edward Osawe, 30, faces charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and failure to comply with a recognizance order.
He appeared in mental health court in the afternoon for a short time, before being ordered to return in a week.
The woman’s injury is considered serious but not life-threatening.
