A Toronto police officer and another motorist are in hospital in serious condition after a crash on Saturday morning.
It happened around 9:30am at 534 Dawes Rd., but police aren’t sure why. The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is trying to find out what caused the two-vehicle collision.
It appears that the 24-year-old officer was responding to a call when witnesses say his cruiser spun out and T-boned another vehicle, leaving a 76-year-old man seriously hurt. Some suggested the slick roads may be to blame.
The officer was taken to the Trauma Unit at Sunnybrook. The elderly man was first taken to Toronto East General Hospital, but was later transferred to the Trauma Unit at Sunnybrook.
Five investigators and two forensic investigators are working on the case. If you saw anything, call the SIU at 416-622-0748.
