A one-year-old thought to have been abducted in an apparent carjacking has been found safe and sound with his dad.
York Regional Police have called off their search.
Officers believe the kidnapping scare may have been sparked by a dispute between the parents.
The child’s mother reported that her car was stolen just before 10am on Tuesday from a Costco parking lot in Markham.
It turns out that it was the father who took the car, with the toddler strapped into the backseat.
A language barrier may have been part of the problem at the start of the manhunt, officers admit.
There’s no word yet on charges. The investigation is continuing.
