Man Dies In Small Plane Crash In Waterloo

One man has died in a small, private plane crash in Waterloo.
The victim has been identified as 65-year-old Janic Volcec.
It happened around 8:30am on Monday near the Region of Waterloo International Airport, close to Shantz Station Road.
It’s not yet known if Volcec was the only person on board the aircraft, which was capable of holding anywhere from two to four passengers.
Waterloo police, fire and paramedics rushed to the scene following the crash. All flights at the airport have been grounded as crews work to clear the debris.
According to an authority at the airport, the plane had just taken off before the crash.
Transport Canada is investigating.
