Thursday night was a busy one for police and emergency crews on Highway 401, but a slow one for drivers headed westbound after an accident and car fire forced lengthy lane closures.
A male driver suffered some hand burns after he escaped a blazing Honda in the westbound lanes near Carlingview around 8pm. A short time later a multi-vehicle pile-up occurred in the express lanes west of Avenue Road.
A GO bus was involved in that crash and at least four people were hurt.
And earlier Thursday evening a bizarre truck-jacking that allegedly started at an LG Electronics plant in Mississauga concluded when the rig was deserted near Leslie and the 401. ETF crews swarmed the area and also shut down the road for a period.
