Toronto Student Arrested In Connection With Townhouse Fires

Less than a week after a massive fire engulfed an unoccupied townhouse complex in Mississauga and two days after releasing photos from a surveillance camera, police have an alleged arsonist in custody.

On Saturday, detectives arrested 19-year-old Adam Zyskowski, a Toronto student, in connection with that fire and another one earlier this year at the same construction site. The most recent blaze on Monday night damaged or destroyed 60 townhouses.  One back in February damaged eight units.

No one was injured in either incident.

The townhouse developer, Dunpar Homes, says each unit was worth between $500,000 and $625,000 and most had already been sold. The combined damages are estimated at about $11 million.

Zyskowski will appear in a Brampton court on Sunday to face charges of two counts of arson and one count related to wearing a disguise.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to call (905) 453-2121 ext. 1233 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
