Traffic Troubles Tie Up Toronto Drivers

It was slow going for Toronto motorists on Thursday.

Traffic troubles had them tied up in knots as two separate crashes shut down two busy routes.

The first collision happened on the Burlington Skyway just before 5am.

Two tractor trailers ran into each other, according to the OPP. Luckily, no one was injured – but there is a large fuel spill to contend with.

All Toronto-bound lanes of the QEW were closed as officials cleaned up the mess but were reopened later in the day.

It’s not yet known if charges will be laid.

Meanwhile, Jarvis Street was shut down in both directions from Gerrard to Dundas following a crash.

An allegedly stolen car rammed into a police cruiser that was in the area on a traffic patrol.

The officer had allegedly pulled the vehicle over when the driver reversed, slamming into the car, then went forward, hitting the curb.

The allegedly pilfered ride then rolled onto the sidewalk.

Three people were trapped inside the car for a short time before emergency crews could free them.

Two women and a man are now in hospital with minor injuries. The trio is also in custody and charges are pending.

The provincial Special Investigations Unit will not be called in.
