Police issue warrant for Toronto man in 2009 slaying of Markham, Ont., shopkeeper

More than a year after Pacific Mall shopkeeper Chun Kit Cheong took a fatal bullet to the head, police said Monday they know who killed him.
Cheong, 26, was killed while working at Xsite cellphone store Feb. 20, 2009.
York Region Police Det. Ian Hill said Monday that “numerous witnesses” helped police identify a suspect.
An arrest warrant was obtained last Wednesday for Bryan Valentine Gardner, 21, of Toronto, wanted for first-degree murder.
After exhausting their efforts to find him through family and friends, police released his name and pictures Monday.
Hill says Gardner, who also goes by “Weezy,” was not known to police before this investigation.
