One Suspect Still At Large In Deathbed Robbery

George Davis, whose 83-year old wife Edna was on her deathbed Tuesday when two thieves walked into her hospital room and robbed her of jewellery at Toronto’s East General Hospital, is in a state of shock.

”Who would do that to somebody?  Oh my God it’s terrible, they done it and no more than 20 minutes later there I am holding her hand as she dies, it’s a terrible thing, terrible thing.  I shall never forget,” he said.

The suspects accused in this crime that has disgusted the city were captured on surveillance video. Isaac Lewkowicz, 29, of Toronto was arrested on Wednesday. He faces theft, conspiracy, drug and probation related offences.

Police are still on the hunt for Marcos Marinoni, 26. Investigators were in contact with him all day Friday, but he failed to show up to turn himself in at the scheduled time.

Police now say similar robberies have been taking place at six G.T.A. hospitals for months. The thieves have been targeting maternity wards and palliative care patients.

George’s wife of 54 years, Edna had about seven thousand dollars worth of jewellery stolen.

What goes around comes around, I believe in that I really do, the guy upstairs will get them, he will eventually,” he said.
