The Leafs let a third period slip away Sunday night, losing to Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-4 in a shootout.
Crosby ended a seven-game scoring drought with two goal performance.
Colton Orr opened the scoring for Toronto, with Phil Kessel, Carl Gunnarsson and Tyler Bozak also scoring.
But Crosby’s two goals, combined with a three-point performance from Brooks Orpik made the evening tough for Leafs goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere, who faced 16 shots in the second period alone.
Next up, the Leafs will host the Atlanta Thrashers Tuesday night.
