New numbers released show American employers did plenty of hiring last month.
The U.S. Labour Department reported that in March, the U.S. economy posted its largest job gain in three years, with 162,000 new jobs having been created.
The numbers are certainly good, but are still below the expectations of 190,000.
Moreover, the American unemployment rate was unchanged at 9.7 percent.
The markets will need to wait until Monday to react, as both Wall and Bay streets are closed for the holiday.
Canada’s jobless figures for Mach will be released a week from now.
