Homicide detectives are investigating after human remains were found in an east-end park Friday.
Just before 9:30am a passerby was walking on a path in Morningside Park, near Morningside Ave. and Ellesmere Rd., and spotted the body parts in a wooded area.
Police could not determine the sex of the badly decomposed remains. They – along with clothing and other personal belongings found at the scene – were sent to the coroner’s office for further examination.
So far, officers will only say the death is suspicious and there are reasons they are remaining tight-lipped.
The park remained closed into the evening as they continued to collect evidence.
Update: On Monday, May 10, Toronto police revealed they do not suspect foul play. An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday, May 12.
