Harper In Toronto Friday

Hey mister, can you spare a billion?

In his last months in office, Mayor David Miller is expected to push the Prime Minister for funding for public transit and affordable housing.

Stephen Harper will be in Toronto on Friday to speak with mayors from across Canada.

He will meet with municipal leaders to discuss what happens when the stimulus funding ends. It’s expected that Ottawa’s cash will dry up in about 10 months.

Miller said that if the federal government can find $1 billion for G8 and G20 summits, it can find money for municipal products.

Meanwhile, Kitchener Mayor Carl Zehr says a new partnership with Ottawa is needed to fight traffic gridlock, homelessness and fund infrastructure.
