Heat Alert Ends

The city’s Medical Officer of Health has cancelled a heat alert issued on Sunday.
With temperatures expected to hover in the mid- to low 20s for the next week, Dr. David McKeown ended the warning Tuesday morning.
An extreme heat alert was issued last week as the mercury pushed into the 30s.
Heat alerts are called when an oppressive air mass is forecast and the high temperatures and other factors lead to an increased risk of death. During an Extreme Heat Alert there may be further weather-related deaths because of more severe or longer-lasting heat.
