Gridlock Expected Due To Weekend Road Closures

Drivers be warned: a series of road closures this weekend will mean it will be even more difficult than usual to navigate the city by car.
The biggest event is the annual Ride for Heart, in which cyclists take to the Gardiner Expressway and DVP to raise funds for heart and stroke research. But three other events will also shut down streets in the east and west parts of the city.
Portugal Day (Saturday)
Lansdowne Avenue from Bloor Street to College Street will be closed in both directions from 9am to 3pm.
Family Fun Fit, Kids of Steel Triathlon (Saturday)
The westbound lanes of Kingston Road, from Danforth Avenue to Birchmount Road, will be closed from 8am to 2pm.
Maya’s March (Sunday)
Conlins Road from Ellesmere Road to Military Trail will be closed from 8am to 4pm.
Becel Heart & Stroke Ride For Heart (Sunday)
The Gardiner Expressway will be closed from Carlaw Avenue to the Humber Bridge and the Don Valley Parkway will be closed from Highway 401 to the Gardiner Expressway from 2am to 2pm. Alternative routes include Lake Shore Boulevard, Bayview Avenue, Leslie Street and Don Mills Road.
If you have to drive in these areas, be patient and give yourself extra time. If possible, take public transportation.
