Guelph bus driver convicted in pedestrian death

GUELPH, Ont – A Guelph bus driver has been convicted in the March 2009 death of a pedestrian.

Richard Chambers, 56, died when he was hit by a bus and dragged for two kilometres.

Video played at the trial of 52-year-old Randy Case, a Coach Canada bus driver, showed Chambers walking his dog and crossing the street with the signal as the bus pulled around the corner.

The justice of the peace said the bus was operated without due care.

Chase was due back in court in September. He faced a fine, up to six months in jail, and a two year drivers license suspension.
