Man surprised to learn he will lose his house for TTC subway station emergency exit

TORONTO – The TTC has decided to expropriate Gus Vagenas’s property at 9 Linnsmore Crescent so it can build an emergency exit for Greenwood station.

Lena Vagenas told 680News her father and the rest of her family was un-aware of the TTC’s decision, although neighbours found out Monday.

“I think we’re still trying to wrap our mind around it. And of course we’re certainly going to follow up on this and try to get some answers. Because we don’t know anything more than the next person would.” said Vagenas

Due to re-construction, the house had been vacant for several years.

The family found out about the destruction of their home when The Toronto Star contacted them Tuesday.

According to The Star, the city will enter into negotiations with Vagenas to acquire his property for market value.
