RED DEER, Alta. – The animal is a Canadian icon, but aggressive ones may face justice.
The city of Red Deer wanted to impose a beaver trapping law, after one killed a husky at an off leash dog park and then attacked other dogs.
Officials were planning to install the fatal traps, but the city plan was scrapped before any installations took place.
Meanwhile, the aggressive beavers involved in the dog attacks were given a reprieve when two land owners offered to relocate them on their rural properties.
An official approved the move, but said if violent animals do not have a place to be relocated, they will be killed.
