Human remains found in Niagara River

Police are investigating after finding human remains in the lower Niagara River.

Niagara Police said around 1 p.m. on Saturday they were notified of unknown male human remains floating near the shoreline.

A few hours later, a police team with the assistance of Niagara helicopter were able to descend into the Niagara Gorge and recover the human remains.

Police and the coroner’s office are investigating.
