Jury Selection Continues In Khadr Trial

Jury selection continues Wednesday for a Toronto-born man accused of war crimes.

Omar Khadr, 23, faces five charges, including murder. He was captured in Afghanistan eight years ago and has been held at Guantanamo Bay.

The Pentagon alleges Khadr threw a hand grenade that killed U.S. special forces Sgt. Chris Speer in Afghanistan in July 2002.

Khadr was 15 at the time of the alleged offence.

Human rights groups have argued that his young age mean Khadr should be considered a child soldier.

The jury pool will consist of 15 officers drawn in roughly equal numbers from the three major services branches are on the panel.

However, as few as five of them could be picked as jurors.

The presiding judge says the trial will likely last several weeks.
