A North York man is facing charges after a deadly motorcycle crash last month in Whitby.
Police have arrested Rashid Soujah, 37 and charged him with manslaughter in connection with the death of Ioana Bocunescu, 40.
Around 11:30pm on Friday August 27, Bocunescu fell off the back of a motorcycle on the westbound 401 in Whitby.
Durham police had been following the motorbike and tried to pull it over when the driver reportedly immediately accelerated, throwing the passenger onto the highway at Lake Ridge Road South.
Her body was found on the highway. Authorities said she was hit by several vehicles and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Soujah is being held for a bond hearing in Oshawa.
