Friday’s Temperatures Break 42-Year-Old Heat Record

Fall may have arrived but summer temperatures continue to linger.
Environment Canada confirms Toronto broke a 42-year-old record of 27.2 degrees Celcius Friday with the mercury hitting 30 degrees Celcius. The humidity made it feel even hotter in some spots.
Anyone complaining about the warmth may be interested in the Sept. 24 record at the opposite end of the spectrum – the lowest recorded temperature since 1939 was -2.2C, set in 1974.
Enjoy the unusually warm weather while you can. Some cooler temperatures are forecast for the weekend. Saturday is expected to be sunny with a high of 15C and conditions will be bright and crisp for the Word on the Street festival Sunday, with a high of 16C.
It’s expected to warm up a bit more for the start of the next workweek.
Autumn officially arrived Thursday and was preceded by a super harvest moon – the first in two decades.
