Rossi proposes fully integrated bike lane network

TORONTO, Ont. – On the same day that mayoral candidate Rob Ford proposed to move city marathons into parks, rival candidate Rocco Rossi announced his plan for fully integrated bike lanes.

The four lanes would be away from traffic encompassing the downtown core, separated from cars by a curb.

An example of the plan includes an east-west lane on Richmond Street, running from Parliament Street to Bathurst.

Another in the same direction would see the existing Wellesley-Harbord lane completed. The existing Sherbourne bike lane would be incorporated and a second north-south lane would see the existing St. George-Beverley Lane extended all the way down to Queens Quay.

Rossi said his proposed network is consistent with his commitment to keeping bike lanes off of unsafe major arterial roads.
