Testing underway for 4G cellular network

TORONTO, Ont. – Rogers has launched a technical trial of what will become Canada’s premier 4G cellular network.
The 4G network is much faster than current networks, reaching speeds of up to 150 MB per second,
“It will work in much the same way that wire connections do in terms of how fast you can connect, how quickly things will happen”, said Rogers Chief Technology Officer Bob Berner.
But a faster experience is just a part of it.
“Not only do we get speed from this, but we get big uplifts in performance”, Berner told 680News.
The new network is said to be so robust, that customers will have the ability to seamlessly stream video over their cell phones.
For the time being, however, very few devices are compatible with 4G. Rogers stated that the company is investing in the future.
So how far in the future will that be?
“We’d love to tell you, but then we’d tell our competition. (Rogers) goal is to be first, so we don’t want to give them any clues,” said Berner.
