TORONTO, Ont. – Police had to close down the westbound lanes of the 407 in Markham, Friday, after a small 1974 Piper aircraft made an emergency landing.
Just before 11 p.m., the single-engine plane landed near the Woodbine Avenue area.
The pilot, returning from the Lindsay area, was the only individual on board, and he had reported mechanical trouble on his approach to the Buttonville Airport.
No one was injured and no crashes were reported, officers said.
The plane was registered to a Toronto address, reported The Toronto Star. A woman at the address confirmed her husband had been piloting the plane but had no further information.
The highway was cleared by 1 a.m. Saturday.
