Another Closure Scheduled For The DVP
With the cold weather arriving soon, the city has performed its first round of maintenance on one of the main north-south thoroughfares – and drivers are bracing for more.
Drivers on the DVP were already dealing with challenges earlier this week, when the route closed overnight for pavement grinding.
The northbound lanes of the Don Valley Parkway from the Gardiner Expressway to Eglinton Avenue were scheduled to be closed from 2am Saturday to 5pm Sunday for long list of other tasks, including:

- pavement markings
- RESCU camera maintenance
- repairs to concrete barriers
- catchbasin cleaning to ensure proper drainage
- guide rail and asphalt repair

- pavement evaluation surveys to assess pavement conditions
- expressway sweeping operations and litter removal
- There was some good news when the highway reopened early, at approximately 9PM Saturday night.
But the northbound lanes of the are DVP scheduled to close again Sunday afternoon, from 12-5pm to finish off the maintenance work. The closure this time will stretch from the Gardiner to Bloor.

Other Road Closures
All four lanes of Yonge Street, between Dundas Street and Dundas Square, will be closed from 7pm Friday to midnight on Saturday for a Walk of Fame event taking place at the Canon Theatre. The 13th Annual celebration will also cause traffic diversions on surrounding roads.

In addition, both northbound lanes of Yonge Street will be closed between Queen Street and Shuter Street on Saturday from 7am to midnight, and Shuter Street between Victoria Street and Yonge Street will be closed on Saturday from 2pm to 8pm.
The GoodLife Fitness Toronto Marathon will shut down much of Yonge Street on Sunday. Closures will begin at 7:30am. The southbound lanes will be closed from Ellerslie Ave. to Aylmer Ave – but northbound lanes are unaffected.
Three lanes of traffic on Gardiner Expressway at Jameson Road to re-open in a week’s time
Bridge rehabilitation work will take place on the Gardiner Expressway between Monday, October 18 and Sunday, October 24.
A series of partial closures for the Gardiner Expressway will be required, allowing traffic to open at Jameson Road sooner than expected.

The closures are as follows:
- The westbound lanes of the Gardiner Expressway will be closed from Carlaw Avenue to the Humber River on Monday, October 18 at 11 p.m. to Tuesday, October 19 at 5 a.m.
- The eastbound lanes of the Gardiner Expressway will be closed from the Humber River to Spadina Avenue on Tuesday, October 19 at 11 p.m. to Wednesday, October 20 at 5 a.m.
- There will be intermittent nightly closures on the Gardiner Expressway in both directions from Spadina Avenue to the Humber River as follows: Wednesday, October 20 at 11 p.m. to Thursday October 21 at 5 a.m.; Thursday, October 21 at 11 p.m. to Friday, October 22 at 5 a.m.; and Friday, October 22 at 11 p.m. to Saturday, October 23 at 2 a.m.
- The Gardiner Expressway will be closed in both directions, from the Humber River to Spadina Avenue, on Saturday, October 23 from 2 a.m. to 6 p.m.
