VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Carole James is keeping her distance, but some NDP leaks suggest the party is hopping into the flowerbed with Bill Vander Zalm with what appears to be backroom support for his recall campaign.
The NDP leader has repeatedly said the party will not get involved in the recalls targeting Liberal MLA’s after the HST was brought in. But it seems nobody told party president Moe Sihota.
Columnist Michael Smyth with the Province newspaper reports leaked documents show Sihota issued a call-to-arms at an NDP executive meeting. It’s illegal for an organization to be a proponent for a recall, but Sihota reportedly told members the reality is very different from James’ public stance.
He wants indirect, aggressive action without calling it an NDP effort. Smyth reports the document was leaked from inside the highest levels of the NDP.
