TORONTO, Ont. – Gone are the days when you’re stuck in a restaurant constantly checking the clock because the Maple Leafs game is about to start.
Rogers is developing a tablet application allowing customers to set their PVRs remotely.
The company’s chief marketing officer John Boynton said tablets will also carry Rogers On Demand, which will stream videos.
“Even if you are away from work, you can plan ahead your entire TV week and have your favourite shows waiting for you when you get home,” said Boynton.
But, Duncan Stewart, director of research for technology at Deloitte, told 680News there’s only so much room for the tablet.
“Those networks will become crowded. We’re already seeing this in the United States, therefore, we are going to be in a wonderful situation when we’re going to have our tablets, but we’re not necessarily going to be watching HD video on them,” Stewart said.
Starting in 2011, users can also get one data package that would cover both smartphone and tablet.
