Woman Stabbed In Midtown

A woman is in hospital and a suspect is in police custody after a stabbing on Yonge Street just south of Eglinton Monday morning.

Witnesses reported seeing a woman struggling to get out of a minivan as she was being stabbed outside a Tim Hortons on Yonge Street just south of Eglinton around 8am.

The victim, described by police as a woman in her 50’s, was taken to hospital with serious stab wounds to the upper body and face. She is expected to be ok after many passer-by’s in the area came to her aid.

Authorities began searching for a male suspect, reportedly in his late 50s. They say witnesses at the scene were instrumental in getting the license plate of the fleeing vehicle.

The alleged attacker, Adrian Tidd of Toronto, has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.

He reportedly surrendered to police at 41 Division around 10am and was later transported to police at 53 division.

Tidd is described as 57 years old, with a full beard and short grey hair.
