Mall Madness Hits Toronto

With Christmas now officially come and gone, many Torontonians will now try and shake off their turkey hangover and hit the malls for the annual Boxing Day bonanza.

Yorkdale, perhaps the GTA’s busiest mall, expects to see more than 100, 000 people walk through its doors.

Many big box electronics retailers such as Best Buy and Future Shop opened their doors bright and early at 6am. Most malls across the GTA opened up shop at 8am. Holt Renfrew opened up at 7am.

Of course there will be the usual contingent of shoppers heading south of the border.

Sunday also sees Canada take on Russia in the opening game of the World Junior Hockey Championship in Buffalo, so there’s no doubt plenty of Canuck supporters will be heading down to cheer then on.

Line-ups at the Fort Erie border crossing are reportedly very long, and the Peace Bridge is said to be packed with cars.

If you can’t bear braving the Boxing Day crowds, many retailers offer online promotions as well.
