The Canadian producers of a controversial miniseries about the Kennedy family have backed their product as historically accurate.
The producers are currently pursuing a new United States broadcaster after the History Channel in the U.S. dropped the eight-part special last week.
The channel said the production does not fit their brand after complaints surrounding parts of the script and some character portrayals.
The $30-million project, starring Greg Kinnear and Katie Holmes, was shot in Toronto. The series was meant to be the American-based History Channel’s first big-budget, scripted program.
Canada’s History Television channel said it will air the project as planned in the spring.
Executive producer Michael Prupas said his company, Muse Entertainment, stands by its work and that the script was “meticulously researched.”
