HAMILTON, Ont. — Joe Womack will handle two positions in his new role with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
The CFL club announced Wednesday that Womack will serve as the team’s assistant general manager, as sportsnet.ca’s Perry Lefko first reported, as well as director of player personnel.
“Joe brings a tremendous amount of experience in scouting and personnel,” general manager Bob O’Billovich said in a release. “He has an extensive list of contacts across North America and has a proven track record of bringing quality players into our league.”
Womack, a native of Baton Rouge, La., spent the last four seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
He served as their director of player personnel, strength and conditioning coach and their director of U.S. scouting.
Before joining the Roughriders, he spent eight years in the NFL as a scout with the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins and the NFL combine. He also served as the B.C. Lions’ director of college scouting.
The Tiger-Cats finished second in the East Division standings last year at 9-9 and lost the division semifinal to the Toronto Argonauts.
