VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The BC Liberals have finally launched their long-promised website on the HST.
It’s relatively easy to navigate, with answers to many concerns raised by the public in video format.
The website outlines how the tax works, what products and services it affects, and how it reaches into your pocketbook.
It also explains the HST referendum question, and the impact of the vote.
The BC Liberals admit the tax was poorly rolled out, but Parliament’s secretary for the HST John Les says there’s also been a lot of misinformation. “People need to make up their own minds. They have an important decision to make later on this year. The only way they can be fairly asked is when they have the factual information.”
As for critics claiming it’s a propaganda website, Les says. “I would urge them to look at the website. It’s full of information presented in a way that I think is very understandable for the public, but we’re not selling the HST. We’re simply providing information.”
