Surfers Hit Lake Ontario For Winter Waves

Three surfers hit Lake Ontario on Wednesday to catch some winter waves – but had a surprise when they got back to shore.
Police were waiting for the trio at the foot of Royal York Road. Someone had spotted the men in the water and called emergency services, thinking they were in danger.
“I guess some guy thought I was drowning, but I was just riding the current to the shore,” one surfer said, his drysuit covered in snow.
“I hopped out and the police asked if everything was ok. We were, we were just out grabbing some waves,” he added.
After sorting everything out with the officers, they were back on their boards.
