Reports: Nets, Jazz agree on Williams trade

Striking out in the Carmelo Anthony sweepstakes, the New Jersey Nets are reportedly close to landing another Western Conference all-star.

According to several online reports, the Nets have agreed to a blockbuster trade that would send Utah Jazz point guard Deron Williams to New Jersey in exchange for Derrick Favors, Devin Harris and two first-round draft picks — the Nets’ 2011 pick and a protected 2012 selection.

Reports, which suggest that the deal should be completed on Wednesday, said the Nets would also pull off a seperate trade with the Golden State Warriors that would land Brandan Wright and Dan Gadzuric to New Jersey for Troy Murphy.

Williams took some heat earlier this month after long-time Jazz coach Jerry Sloan resigned one day after the two had a halftime argument in a loss to the Chicago Bulls. The all-star guard denied reports that he gave management a “him or me” ultimatum.

The product of Illinois, who can become a free agent at the end of the season, is averaging 21.3 points with 9.7 assists and 3.9 rebounds in 53 games this season.

Utah, currently in the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, have not won a game since Sloan stepped down and are currently on a four-game losing streak.
