Honda issues recall for more than 3,500 Civics

Honda Canada has recalled more than 3,500 Civics due to a potential fuel pump problem.

The automaker issued the recall Wednesday after internal testing showed the roll-over valve inside certain fuel pump modules may have been damaged during production.

The company wants to inspect the fuel pump modules in 3,636 2011 Civics and nine 2011 Acura CSX models.

“If a vehicle is involved in a rollover crash, the cracked roll-over valve may allow fuel leakage from the gasoline tank into the evaporative canister,” the company said in a statement.

No crashes or injuries have been reported due to the problem.

Honda is asking owners to bring their vehicles to an authorized dealer once they receive a recall notification, which will start going out in mid-April.
