Sharks’ Clowe won’t play in Game 6

San Jose Sharks forward Ryane Clowe will not play in Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Red Wings on Tuesday night after not making the trip to Detroit due to injury.
On Tuesday, Sharks head coach Todd McLellan confirmed Clowe suffered an upper-body injury and will miss the game. While it was initially believed that he was hurt in an open-ice hit from Red Wings defenceman Niklas Kronwall in the second period of Game 5, the Sharks coach said that wasn’t the case.
Although Clowe didn’t make the trip to Detroit, McLellan isn’t concerned it will be a long-term injury and hopes to have the forward ready to play for the team’s next game. The Sharks have yet to confirm who will replace Clowe in the lineup for Tuesday’s crucial matchup.
The Sharks lead the series 3-2. Should the Red Wings win Tuesday, the series will head back to San Jose for Game 7 Thursday. The winner of the series will take on the Vancouver Canucks in the Western Conference finals.
