TORONTO — Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has diverticulitis again.
Lesnar has withdrawn from his UFC 131 fight in Vancouver set for June 11.
Lesnar says: “I dodged a bullet about two years ago with diverticulitis. … Diverticulitis is an illness that never goes away.”
Still the mixed martial arts star says this time the digestive disorder is not as serious as before. And he’s not retiring.
He says: “This isn’t the end of Brock Lesnar. This is a speed bump in the road.”
His choice now is between having surgery or having to deal with the disease for the rest of his life.
Shane Carwin will replace Lesnar against Junior Dos Santos in the main event of UFC 131.
Lesnar said he had been feeling some symptoms for the last three months and felt weak in training.
