Arson possible in Malton fire

Peel police have arrested the resident of a Malton house where a fire started overnight.

Firefighters put out the blaze at a semi-detached home on Redfox Road, near Airport Road and Morningstar Drive, around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.

No one was seriously injured, but several people suffered smoke inhalation.

Officers took one woman into custody and are considering arson as a possible cause.

And for the second time in a year, Mississauga crews attended to a fire at an address on Ninth Line, near Highway 407 and Derry Road.

It took minutes to put out the flames, which had engulfed a shed around 2:30 a.m.

And a third fire damaged a kitchen on Palmvalley Drive, near Queen Street East and The Gore Road in Brampton around 5:30 a.m. It took about an hour to extinguish.

One woman was taken to hospital to be treated for minor smoke inhalation.

The family’s white lapdog escaped and went missing.
