TORONTO, Ont. – Classmates have identified the woman swept over Niagara Falls on Sunday.
Ayano Tokumasu, 20, was an international student from Japan studying English at the Hansa Language Centre on Eglinton Avenue East, CityNews reported.
She was posing for a photo around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, apparently while holding an umbrella, straddling the stone barrier when she lost her balance and fell into the fast-flowing river where she was swept over the Falls.
Both Canadian and U.S. emergency crews searched the area extensively; however, the search was scaled back late Monday.
Her body has not been recovered.
