Sony releases tablet computer

Japanese electronics giant Sony is looking to battle Apple and the iPad by releasing the company’s first tablet computer.

The Sony Tablet S will run Google’s Android 3.1 operating system, which will allow users to download content such as movies, books and games.

The Tablet S is also designed to easily send videos to Sony televisions and music to Sony wireless speakers.

In addition, the Tablet S features built-in access to a range of Sony’s entertainment products, like Playstation and the Sony Reader store.

In Canada, the 16GB version will sell for $499.99 and the 32GB version for $599.99. The 16GB version is available for sale online, while the 32 GB version is available for pre-order.

Later this year, Sony will be releasing the smaller Sony Tablet P. The P model features two folding, 5.5 inch screens.
