GTA-wide drug bust lands 23 people in custody

Toronto police have arrested and charged 23 people following a series of drug busts early Wednesday morning across the GTA.

The investigation, dubbed Project Decepticon, began in August and involved Toronto police as well as officers from Durham, York, Belleville, and Hamilton.

Police looking for drugs, especially ecstasy and cocaine, targeted 26 homes and businesses.

“Of the 26 search warrants that were executed five were in Durham, one was in York Region, I believe two in Hamilton, one in Belleville, and that would leave the remaining 17 here in Toronto,” said Cst. Wendy Drummond.

Details concerning the charges will be revealed at a press conference Thursday.
