Police searching for three bank robbery suspects

Toronto, ON — The Toronto police hold-up squad has released the images of three suspects in separate bank robberies dating back to October 2009. They’re hoping someone will recognize them and lead to an arrest.
The ‘New Year Bandit’ is wanted in four CIBC robberies, two in Hamilton and two in Toronto. The first was December 2010 while the other three were in January 2011. In each case, the suspect enters the branch, approaches the teller and keeps his hat tilted low over his face. He spoke with a deep voice and put the money in a black knapsack that he was carrying. His nickname stems from the fact that most of his hold-ups happened in the first month of the year.
The ‘Blue Eyed Bandit’ gets his nickname from the people in the bank who saw him and pointed out his very blue eyes. He’s wanted in a TD branch robbery on Evans Avenue in October 2010. The images of him are very clear. He presented a note to the teller claiming he had a gun.
The ‘Smart Bandit’ is wanted in the October 2009 robbery of the Royal bank branch at 1881 Steeles Aveneue West. He gets his handle from having insider’s knowledge into how branches operate. The suspect handed the teller a note which contained instruction for her to make certain computer entries which would allow here to over ride the maximum withdrawal amount. The note also indicated he was armed. He left with a large amount of money.
