3 Canadians win World Cup medals

Three Canadian athletes have won World Cup medals.
Kaillie Humphries and Emily Baadsvik won a silver medal Friday in a women’s bobsled World Cup event. Mellisa Hollingsworth won a bronze medal Friday at a skeleton World Cup event.
Humphries of Calgary and Baadsvik, of St. Stephen, N.B., finished with a two-run combined time of one minute 44.10 seconds.
Germans Cathleen Martini and Berit Wiacker won gold in 1:43.56, while Fabienne Meyer and Hanne Schenk of Switzerland took the bronze in 1:44.10.
In the skeleton event, Shelly Rudman of Britain finished half a second ahead of Marion Thees of Germany for her first skeleton World Cup victory in a year. Her last win came at St. Moritz, Switzerland, last January.
Thees’ second-place finish moved her past Hollingsworth to the head of the season standings after five of eight races.
Hollingsworth of Eckville, Alta., is nine points behind Thees, who has 938 points overall.
Rudman is third with 897 points.
