A Toronto man was sentenced to four years in prison Friday after he was convicted of human trafficking in York Region.
Jason Reid, 28, is the first person ever convicted of human trafficking in the region, police said.
Reid has already served 107 days in pre-trial custody. His sentence also included a lifetime ban on owning a weapon, and he must provide a DNA sample.
Reid was arrested on Sept. 29, 2011. He was convicted of forcing a 22-year-old woman to perform sexual acts at a Toronto spa for money and to turn all of her earnings over to him.
Police also searched his home, finding a handgun, a sawed-off shotgun and ammunition.
