Fire crews find python in Toronto apartment

A cat and a python were rescued from a west-end apartment fire Tuesday morning.

Fire crews were called to a seventh floor unit of a building on Lakeshore Drive, near Lakeshore Boulevard and Islington.

When they arrived, firefighters discovered smoke and the pets inside.

Animal services says an Albino Burmese python was in a tank and was not roaming free.

The fire caused minimal damage to the unit, which police believe housed a grow-op.
