Union holds ‘Save Ontario Place’ rally

Union supporters gathered at Ontario Place Saturday to persuade Queen’s Park to keep the park open.

The Save Ontario Place rally began at 10 a.m. at the main entrance on Lake Shore Boulevard West.

The Ontario Public Service Employees Union said the government recently spent $10 million in upgrades, and Ontario Place was turning the corner when the government decided to shut it down for five years for redevelopment.

The union said if the park stays open during the revitalization, 70 full-time jobs and 600 student jobs would be saved.
