Whitecaps down Sporting Kansas in Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. — Vancouver exploded in the second half Wednesday as the Whitecaps defeated Sporting Kansas City 3-0 to finish with a perfect record in the group stage of the Disney Pro Soccer Classic.
Vancouver (3-0-0) had already clinched first place in Group One and a spot in Saturday’s final against either Toronto FC or FC Dallas. Those two teams play Thursday as Group Two play wraps up.
Sebastien Le Toux got things going for Vancouver in the 50th minute Wednesday, volleying home a cross from Davide Chiumiento for a 1-0 lead.
Russell Teibert made it 2-0 in the 62nd minute on a shot from 20 yards out before Carlyle Mitchell stretched the Vancouver lead to three off a pass from Jordan Harvey in the 67th.
Kei Kamara nearly got one back for Kansas City (0-1-2) in the 85th minute, but his header was cleared off the Vancouver goal-line.
The Montreal Impact (0-1-1) and the Houston Dynamo (0-1-1) played later Wednesday to round out Group One play.
Vancouver defeated the Impact 3-0 on Friday before earning a 1-0 victory over Houston on Sunday.
The Whitecaps open their Major League Soccer schedule March 10th against the expansion Impact at BC Place Stadium.
