CONCACAF U-20: Canada defeats Jamaica

PANAMA CITY — Jenna Richardson and Catherine Charron-Delage each scored as Canada beat Jamaica 2-0 to stay unbeaten at the CONCACAF U-20 women’s soccer championship Saturday.
Richardson collected the ball from defender Christine Exeter and fired a low shot from the top of the box to score in the 76th minute on Canadian-born Jamaica goalkeeper Taylor Grant.
Six minutes later Exeter was in on the second goal. She gathered a headed ball off a corner kick and made the pass to Charron-Delage to put Canada up 2-0.
Charron-Delage, who came off the bench in the 46th minute, now has three goals in two games while Richardson’s goal was her second of the tournament.
Canada’s (2-0) next match is Monday against Mexico.
The top three teams in the eight-country regional qualifier will advance to the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup set for Aug. 18-Sept. 8 in Japan.
CONCACAF covers North and Central America and the Caribbean.
The Canadian women are in Group A, along with Haiti, Mexico and Jamaica. Group B is made up of Cuba, Guatemala, Panama and the United States.
