Report: Seahawks to release CB Trufant

Marcus Trufant’s tenure in Seattle is coming to an end.
The Seattle Seahawks will release the veteran cornerback on Wednesday, according to a report from Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times.
The 31-year-old was the longest-tenured player on the team after the Seahawks drafted the Washington State product with the 11th-overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft.
Trufant, who was scheduled to make $7.2 million in 2012, was placed on the season-ending injured reserve with a bruised sacrum after playing in only four games last season
The 2007 Pro Bowler no longer fit into the team’s plans in the secondary after younger players such as former CFLer Brandon Browner and Richard Sherman emerged last season.
The Seahawks got Trufant to restructure his contract at the beginning of the 2011 season.
